Tune in online, or at 106.7 FM / 740 AM- On Groundhog Day, 1948 people living around Mount Airy, North Carolina tuned their radios to 740 on the AM dial. After months of anticipation and excitement, they heard the first radio station their area could call its own.
- WPAQ presents a combination of bluegrass, old time and gospel music, plus religious programs not too removed from the original 1948 offerings.
- Live music by local musicians is presented each Saturday on WPAQ’s Merry-Go-Round program.

Then at 9am join us for Vintage Bluegrass with your old radio pal Tim Frye followed by Through the Bible, then The Gods Child Records Radio Show at 10:30, with your host John Rees. From 11-1:30 WPAQ presents the Merry Go Round broadcast live from The Historic Earle Theatre & Old-Time Music Heritage Hall in Downtown Mount Airy featuring Pickard Mountain from 11-12 followed by Anna Mertson Music from 12-1:30. Following the Merry go Round stay tuned for Joe Buzzard Country Classics, then Born in the Mountain followed by The Blue Ridge Spotlight with Kenneth Berrier. Then at 6pm Sundown Serenade. Our long-awaited Easter Brothers exhibit will be dedicated on April 27th at 1:00 PM in the Museum Courtyard. Jeff and Sheri Easter, among others, will be in attendance as part of the ceremony. This event is free and open to the public.
After the event, people are welcome to tour the museum to see the new exhibit in person!

10,000 Watts of AM Coverage – Listening tests indicate a receivable signal throughout area shown. Reports from many parts of North Carolina and Virginia, as well as from West Virginia and Tennessee, confirm the vast coverage of the WPAQ Clear Channel Signal. Station operates with one thousand Watts for approximately 1 ½ hours after sunrise and before sunset. (FM operates at full power 24 hours per day)
